heyday is one of my favorite places to eat on the island for a special occasion. they only do meals a couple days per week, and usually only dinner, so the fact that my birthday falls midsummer makes it the perfect time to visit. the sun stays out late, which means we could enjoy dinner outside in the gorgeous weather and walk around the grounds a bit afterward before heading home.

heyday does preset menus, and their entreé this particular week was so amazing; steak, salad, strawberry shortcakes with basil whip, ice cream and rosé. it was the quintessential midsummer meal, and we were lucky enough to be seated at a table with some sweet people who also had first responder family members and were visiting from seattle.
