there was a recent post on facebook asking for seasonal bucket list items for our local area. it was really interesting to see the responses, and i realized the differences in level of ambition with bucket lists is worth noting.
i tend to craft my seasonal bucket lists not with the idea of keeping myself busy, but rather with the hope that by accomplishing the things listed below i’ll be more intentional with my time and with the season. i’m guilty of always looking forward, prepping and planning for what’s next so setting aside some simple goals to help me enjoy the here and now is really helpful. and the main focus in that sentence should have been simple. it’s not about having the most epic spring/summer/christmas/whatever ever. rather, i try to come up with lists that take enough effort to make our experiences unique and memorable, but that contain things i was semi-likely to do anyway. that way i won’t be knocking myself out trying to accomplish “extras”, thereby sucking all the joy out of those days.
point being - i want just enough structure to allow me to look back at the end and feel i savored and am fulfilled by that time spent, without being exhausted or feeling like i fell short.
