one of the highlights of our trip to texas was our pilgrimage to the magnolia silos in waco.
as my mom said as we walked in, “i feel like i’m going to disney world!” which was apropos. the silos has the same carefully curated atmosphere/mass churning efficiency/but still super nice and fun feel as disney. the mounting excitement is akin to christmas morning - but for modern-farmhouse obsessed adult women.
we ran in with goals to grab gifts for everyone who had pressed money and a wishlist on us before we left town, and of course - cupcakes.
in my highly biased opinion, a trip to the silos wasn’t complete without a silobration cupcake. the line for the bakery itself was wrapped around the 105 degree block, but luckily we were able to quickly snag some cakes from the silos baking co. food truck. as someone who has spent a large portion of my life baking in hot locales, i was so simultaneously impressed with not only how delicious the cupcakes were, but how well the frosting held up in the heat.
it was such a special experience, but i will also add that the silos was smaller than i expected. in a way this in and of itself is endearing because to me it shows how humble chip and joanna were when they built it. i don’t think they had any idea how much of a spectacle this place would become.
